Born 1910 in Königshütte. He served: Jun.40 with (Army) leichte Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung 8 based in Bielitz; 1940 with Sperrfeuer-Batterie 30 of Sperrfeuer Untergruppe Regensburg (cover name for Flak-Regiment 71) active in Germany. A Sperrfeuer unit is an aiplane blocking unit utilizing barrage balloons but also Flak guns. On 7.3.41 he and his unit were transferred from the Army tot he Luftwaffe. Till 1942 he was active with Sperrfeuer-Batterie 118, active in the same area. 1942-1944 he served with Schwere Flak-Abteilung 906 also active in Germany (Nürnberg, Regensburg, Stuttgart); from Jul.44 onwards with schwere Flak-Abteilung 241 also based in Stuttgart, 1945 also active in ground combat surrendering May 1945 in Southern Germany.
