Salesman born 1917 in Haimichen. He served: Jan.-Feb.40 for basic military training wih leichte Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung 14 in Naumburg; Feb.-Oct.40 with Artillerie-Regiment 294 of the 294.Infanterie-Division active in Belgium and France (Aisne, Bourg, Berry, Reims, Marne, Seine, Loire, demarcation line); Oct.40-Dec.42 as gunner and paymaster with Artillerie-Regiment 304 of the 304.Infanterie-Division active securing the coast in Belgium and France (Dunkirk area). Dec.42 the division was quickly sent to the Don area in Russia as part of the 23.12.42 formed Armee-Abteilung Fretter-Pico, trying to close the gap when the Russians had opened up the front line which would lead to the enclosure of Stalingrad and the destruction of the 6.Army. Very soon after arrival at the front he was KIA on 31.12.42 near Pogorelowka (Polesnoje).
