He served: Nov.37-Oct.39 with Infanterie-Regiment 87 in Mainz; Oct.39-Feb.40 with Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 483 in Friedensbrunn Warthegau; Feb.40-Sep.41 with Infanterie-Regiment 436 of the 127.Infanterie-Division (Sep.40 renumbered to 132.Infanterie-Division) home based in Landshut, Jun.-Aug.41 active in Southern Russia (6.Armee, Kiew). He got wounded on 16.8.41 by shrapnel in his left upper leg and died on 27.9.41 in the military hospital in Breslau. He is nowadays buried at the war cemetery in Mannheim,
