He served: Mar.-Jun.40 for basic infantry training with Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 43 in Insterburg; Jun.-Aug.40 with Infanterie-Regiment 541 of the 272.Infanterie-Division formed/based in Groß-Born as reserve; Aug.-Oct.40 again with Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 43 in Insterburg; Oct.40-Mar.42 with Infanterie-Regiment 43 of the 1.Infanterie-Division active in Northern Russia (Riga, Narwa, Leningrad). He was KIA on 1.3.42 in Pogostje. Probably still buried in his field grave as he was not moved to a war cemetery after WW2.
