Agricultural worker born 1921 in Schönau. He served: Feb.-Jun.41 with Radfahr-Ersatz-Kompanie 268 in München; Jun.41-Feb.42 with Aufklärungs-Abteilung 268, (bicycle) reconnaissance unit of the 268.Infanterie-Division active in Middle Russia (Brest-Litowsk, Smolensk, Jelnja, Wjasma, Brjansk, Moscow, Tula, Juchnow); he got wounded on 20.12.41 (frostbite both feet), repatriated and till Mar.42 with replacements unit Radfahr-Ersatz-Kompanie 268; till Apr.42 with the field replacements unit of the 268.Infanterie-Division, Feld-Ersatz-Bataillon 268 active in the Juchnow area; Apr.42-Jul.43 again with the bicycle recconaissaince unit of the 268.Infanterie-Division (several times renamed: Panzerjäger und Aufklärungs-Abteilung 268, Schnelle Abteilung 268 and Divisions-Bataillon 268) active in Middle Russia (Ugra, Medyn, Juchnow, Spass-Demensk). He got wounded on 22.4.42 at Krasnaja Gorka by handgrenade shrapnell in his left upper leg but stayed with his unit. He was KIA on 4.7.43 in Basanowo Jelnja area. Nowadays probably still buried in his field grave since he was not reburied at a war cemetery after WW2.
