Backer born 1915 in Salzwedel. He served: Nov.37-Sep.42 with Infanterie-Regiment 93 (Jul.42 renamed Schützen-Regiment 93, also named Panzrgrenadier-Regiment 93), a completely motorized Infantry unit of the 13.Infanterie-Division (Oct.40 renamed to 13.Panzer-Division), home based in Altengrabow, 1939 active in Silesia and Poland, 1940 active in France (Laon, Calais, Panzergruppe von Kleist, Amiens, Lyon). Nov.40-1941 based in Rumania as demonstration unit (Lehrtruppe in Rumänien), from Jun.41 onwards active in Souhern Russia (Lublin, Uman, Kiew, Rostow, Mius, Taganrog, Rostow, Armavir). Trained with: K98, P08, MG34 and range finder. He was KIA on 1.9.42 in Kandskaja (as written in the Wehrpass). According to further research (copy will come with the pass) from ancestry.com this is the town Naurskaya in Russia. He died by an injury to his upper leg. He was buried at the left road site just outsite the northeast exit of the town Mekenskaja.
