Construction engineer born 1894 in Hamburg and living in Hamburg. WW1 combatant, 1917-1920 in french POW camp, entitled Apr.1917 with Iron Cross 2nd Class. He served: 1939-1943 as civil construction engineer with Marine Standort-Bauamt Hamburg as harbour construction engineer, 1939-1940 working for this navy construction buro on the island Helgoland constructing the harbour; called-up for military service and Nov.-Dec.43 basic navy artillery training with 2.Ersatz-Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung in Zeven-Bremen; Dec.43-Apr.44 with 51.Funk-Mess-Kompanie in Hamburg but during this time also hospitalized; May-Sep.44 with Marine-Festungs-Pionier-Bataillon 1 in Hamburg; Nov.44-Mar.45 with Marine-Festungs-Bau-Bataillon 314 till Dec.44 based in Sande, later active in Marne and Cuxhaven under command of Marine-Festungs-Pionierstab Deutsche Bucht.
