He served: as sailor „Matrose“ 1936-1937 on board of the „Rabat“ home based in Hamburg; 1937 on board of the steam cargo ship „Wigbert“ home based in Bremen (sunk by torpedo 1940 in the Kattegat by the HMS Triton); 1939-1940 as officer on board of the „M.S. Ossag“ home based in Hamburg (crude oil vessel „Tankdampfer“ Ossag 1940 transferred to the Kriegsmarine, 1944 torpedoed and sunk); 1940-1941 on board of the steamship „Grandeur“ active in the Northsea and Ostsee; 1942 on board of the H18 home based in Hamburg.He died on 26.7.43 in Hamburg. Cause of death not mentioned.
