Curious document signed by (and send to) the Bavarian prime minister (Ministerpräsident) Ludwig Siebert, 31.3.42. Three pages DinA4.
Ludwig Siebert born (17.10.1874 in Ludwigshafen, died 1.11.1942 in Stock am Chiemsee) was a Nazi politician and 1933-1942 the prime minister of Bavaria. He has also signed the document because he has filed it in his own archive on 3.4.42.
Send by Ministerialdirektor Schenk who was the Bavarian liaison official in Berlin (“under command” of Ludwig Siebert). The document contains a discussion about membership of the NSDAP as all German politicians should be a NSDAP member in those days. Although Siebert told (“ordered”) him to join the NSDAP, he was still not a member in 1942. Schenk tells that he was rejected as NSDAP member in 1933 and filled out new request forms in 1941 because Siebert wanted that. But now he rejected NSDAP membership himself because he was in hospital. Schenk ends his debate with the remarks that his loyalty to Germany shouldn’t have to be confirmed by the NSDAP membership.
