On the 25th of September 1940 the Reichsjugendführung ordered that monthly subscriptions were no longer to be paid by HJ members. Previously a subscription stamp had been affixed to the ID card but after the above date a new book (Sparmarkenheft) was introduced. The purpose of this book was to encourage Hitler Youth members to save towards the cost of camps, trips and employment training. In exchange for money special stamps of varying value were issued and glued into the savings book.
