War reporter photo 6.Armee Generaloberst von Weichs

Out of stock

Very nice war reporter photo 18x13cm (Agfa-Brovira). Photo was made 1942 by a war reporter (Kriegsberichter) of Propaganda-Kompanie 637 of the 6th Army in the Don area (Kalatsch-Stalingrad). Inscribed at the back “Generaloberst von Weichs”. At that time commander of Army Group B, Knights Cross 29.6.40, Oak Leaves 5.2.45. Promoted to Generalfeldmarschall on 1.2.43, in fact this was a very weird promotion (by Hitler) because it was just after Weichs suggested the retreat from Stalingrad and fell out of Hitler’s favor and was therefore put in leader reserve. Later he became the commander of Army Group F (Balkan).
