RAD service Feb.-43-Apr.44 as a Luftwaffe Flak helper with 33 days of enemy contact. 1944 he joined the Luftwaffe as an upcoming officer for the duration of the war (Offizier auf Kriegsdauer) and served: Jul.-Dec.44 as telephone operator incl. NCO schooling with 17./Luftnachrichten-Regiment Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe in Berlin-Kladow; Dec.44-May 45 with 19./Luftnachrichten-Regiment Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe active in upper Italy.
