He served 1942-1944 with 2./Aufklärungs-Bataillon 132 (Nov.43 renamed 2./Divisions-Füssilier-Bataillon 132) of the 132.Infanterie-Division. 1942 active in Southern Russia (Krim, Kertsch, Sewastopol); 1942-44 active in Northern Russia (Leningrad, Wolchow, Newel, Opotschka, Polozk, Dünaburg, Latvia, Riga, Kurland). The Division was Dec.44 completely destroyed in the Kurland pocket.
