2) Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, 4.7.42. Signed by the CO of Infanterie-Regiment 317, Oberstleutnant. Used condition, bit damaged.
3) Close Combat Clasp 1st Grade “Nahkampfspange 1.Stufe”, 15.12.43. Signed by the CO of Grenadier-Regiment 317, Oberst. Issued for 15 close combat days. Used condition.
4) Birth certificate, 23.4.36.

Also entitled to: Winter War Medal (2.8.42), Iron Cross 2nd Class (20.4.43) and Wound Badge in Black (30.6.42).

Backer born 1913. He served 1939-1943 with 7./Infanterie-Regiment 317 of the 211.Infanterie-Division, 1940 active in France and till Jan.42 based in France (Bretagne), 1942-43 active in Middle Russia (Brjansk, Spass-Demjansk, Orel). He got wounded on 7.6.42 (shrapnel hand and back, Brjansk area) and on 12.10.43 (shot through his right arm, Orel area). He was Oct.43 repatriated to Germany and was discharged in Oct.44.
