He served 1939-1943 with 7./Infanterie-Regiment 317 of the 211.Infanterie-Division, 1940 active in France and till Jan.42 based in France (Bretagne), 1942-43 active in Middle Russia (Brjansk, Spass-Demjansk, Orel). He got wounded on 7.6.42 (shrapnel hand and back, Brjansk area) and on 12.10.43 (shot through his right arm, Orel area). He was Oct.43 repatriated to Germany and was discharged in Oct.44.
