Jahrbuch der deutschen Kriegsmarine 1941. With dedication and original signature of the captain of the Horst Wessel, Stralsund 28.6.41. The book was give by the captain to Fritz Riedl for his achievements for a course. Bounding little bit loose but overall reasonable condition. 24x17cm. 197 pages.

The Horst Wessel was commissioned in 1936 and taken as a war prize by the Americans in 1946. The US-Navy still uses it as the USCGC Eagle training ship. In the three years before World War II, she undertook numerous training cruises in the North Atlantic waters, sailing with trainee groups consisting of both future officers and future petty officers. Horst Wessel was decommissioned in 1939 with the onset of World War II, but served as a docked training ship in Stralsund for the marine branch of the Hitler Youth until her recommissioning as an active Navy sail training vessel in 1942.
