2) Krim Shield, 30.1.43. Size DinA4. Crude field issue (issued by the 11th Army). Heavily used condition.

He served 1942 with 4./Strassenbau-Bataillon 678, an Army road construction unit active in Russia under command of the 11th Army. (Heeresgruppenkommando Don). 1942 Southern Russia: Sewastopol, Krim, Feodissija, Parpatsch, Kertsch, Newel. Jul.42 Northern Russia: Ladoga, Leningrad, Newel. He got wounded for the first time on 12.6.42 during the battle for Sewastopol (Krim, Black Sea).
