He served till at least April 1944 with 7./Luftnachrichten-Regiment 55, airplane guidance unit “Flugmelde-Leit-Kompanie” based in Kleveland Norway (disbanded Oct.1944). Dec.1944 he served with 3.Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 2, Dec.44 reformed in Amersfoort after the unit was disbanded after heavy losses during the battles in the Normandy and Brest. The unit was Dec.44 formed in Amersfoort Holland and was that same month active in fierce battles against the Canadian troops in the area Arnhem-Gennep-Reichswald-Goch-Wesel (Holland and Western Germany). He got wounded on 31.12.44 (most probably in Holland) and was hospitalized in the Luftwaffe hospital in Gotha.
