Winter War Medal “Ostmedaille, Winterschlacht im Osten”, 15.6.44. Signed by the CO of Beobachtungs-Abteilung 22. Together with a copy of his wound badge in black citation from 1941.

He served 1941-44 with Beobachtungs-Abteilung 22 of the 22.Infanterie-Division (Luftlande-Division): 1940 active in Holland; 1941-42 active in Southern Russia (Perekop, Sewastopol, Krim); 1942-43 active in Africa and on Crete; 1944 active on Crete, Agais, Greece and Serbia; 1945 active in Croatia. He got wounded for the first time on 30.7.41 (in Southern Russia).
