Peter Dressler, Hauptmann Army Artillery

2) Soldbuch, 2.5.44. Issued (and signed) by the CO of Gebirgs-Artillerie-Kommandeur 132, Generalmajor Werner von Gallwitz. He was KIA one week later on 11.5.44 at Sewastopol and postumously promoted to Generalleutnant. Second issue „Zweitschrift“. With uniform pass photo.

He was the son (as entered in the passes) of Generalmajor Rudolf Dressler from Traunstein, an army artillery general during WW2 who retired in 1943. Peter was a sales student born 1916 in Munich. He served: Apr.36-Mar.38 with Artillerie-Regiment 10 home based in Regensburg, Mar.38 active during the annexation in Austria; Aug.39-Nov.40 with Artillerie-Regiment 178 of the 78.Infanterie-Division, 1940 OKH reserve and occupation force France; Nov.40-Mar.42 with leichte Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung 178 in Ulm; Mar.-Sep.42 with Artillerie-Regiment 305 of the 305.Infanterie-Division, part of the 6.Armee active in Southern Russia (Charkow, Don, Kalatsch, Stalingrad); 13.9.42 he got wounded on the first day of the official assault on Stalingrad by shrapnell in arm and head and hospitalized in Brieg while Sep.42-Mar.43 attached to Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung 5 in Ulm; Mar.-May 43 part of army leaders pool Führer-Reserve Heeresgruppe A; May 43-Jan.44 with Artillerie-Kommandeur 149 (Arko 149) active in Southern Russia at the Krim; Jan.-Jun.44 with Artillerie-Regiment 336 of the 336.Infanterie-Division active at the Krim where the division was completely destroyed May 44 at Sewastopol; Jun.44-Feb.45 with Artillerie-Regiment 304 of the 304.Infanterie-Division active in the Ukrain (Tiraspol, Baranow, Carpates); from Feb.45 onwards with Artillerie-Regiment 248 of the 168.Infanterie-Division active in Silesia.
