Born 1902 in Munich Bavaria. Civil occupation as a horse keeper. He joined the Army in 1921 for twelve years service. He served 1921-1933 with Artillerie-Regiment 7 home based in Würzburg (later service with 2./AR7 based in Würzburg). After he finished his 12 years service and was promoted several times, he was discharged on 10.4.33 in the rank of Wachtmeister (still NCO). Because of the mobilization for WW2 he was promoted to Leutnant and called-up Jul.39 to serve with his former unit Artillerie-Regiment 7 of the 7.Infanterie-Division.
