He served: Dec.40-Apr.41 with Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 463 in Idar-Oberstein; Apr.-Jun.41 with 9./Infanterie-Regiment 463 of the 263.Infanterie-Division, occupation force in France (Bordeaux) and Jun.41 active in Middle Russia (Brest, Bialystok, Brjansk); wounded by shrapnell in his right upper arm on 23.6.41 in Brjansk area; hospitalized and probably lost his right arm because the entered wound badge was first black and later changed to silver; till Mar.42 attached to Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 463 in Idar-Oberstein and discharged from military service May 1942.
