He served: Oct.40 with Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 435 in Heilbronn; Oct.40-Jan.42 with the machine gun platoon of Infanterie-Regiment 470 of the 260.Infanterie-Division, 1940-1941 securing the demarcation line in France, from Jul.41 onwards active in Middle Russia (Brest-Litowk, Bobruisk, Kiew, Brjansk, Moscow). He was KIA (shot in his stomach) on 7.1.42 in Taurowa-Serpukhov (oblast Moscow).
