He served: Apr.40 with Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 49 in Breslau; Apr.-May 40 with an MG company of Infanterie-Regiment 354 of the 213.Infanterie-Division based (forming) in Poland; May 40-Oct.41 with 1./Korps-Nachrichten-Kompanie (mot) 435, motorized signals unit of the Höheres Kommando z.b.V. XXXV (later renamed 35.Armee-Korps, 35th Army Corps), till Sep.40 occupation in Poland, later Generalgouvernement, from Jun.41 active in middle Russia (Bialystok, Minsk, Bobruisk, Kiew, Brjansk). He was KIA on 12.10.41 near Seredina Buda east of Nowgorod Sjewersk and was buried there in a single grave in the garden of the former church.
