He served: Jun.40 with motorized transport unit Leichte Nachschubkolonne 433 of Korps-Nachschubführer 433 active in France (Elsas, Lothringen); from Jun.40 till the end of the war with army vehicle field repair shop Kraftwagen-Werkstatt-Zug 270 (1944 renamed Kraftfahrzeug-Instantsetzungs-Zug 270(mot)) of the 270.Infanterie-Division, Jun.-Aug.40 occupation force France (demarcation line) and from Aug.40 onwards active securing the coast of Norway (1942-1945 under 20.Gebirgs-Armee in Northern Norway as Küstenschutzverband Tromsö). The division remained in Norway throughout the war and did not see major combat until Germany was forced to surrender in May 1945. During his service in Norway he followed Aug.44 a special course in Wünsdorf for making and installing leaf-springs. He was 1946 in POW camp in Mulsanne France.
