Tool maker born 1924 in Helba living in Meiningen. He worked 1939-1942 as tool maker at IP Sauer & Sohn in Meiningen. He served: Oct.42-Jan.43 for basic military training with Panzergrenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 6 and Panzergrenadier-Ausbildungs-Bataillon 6 in Saalfeld; Jan.-Feb.43 with Feldersatz-Bataillon 31 of the 1.Panzer-Division at that moment based in France preparing for service at the Eastern Front; Feb.43-Aug.44 with Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 of the 1.Panzer-Division active till Oct.43 in Greece, from Oct.43 onwards in Southern Russia (Ukrain, Shitomir, Winniza, Brody, Zloczow). He got wounded 25.11.43 when he was shot in his left arm, Mar.-May 44 ill from dysentery but stayed at the front. He was KIA on 6.8.44 in Sanok south-eastern Poland. Probably still buried in his field grave as it was not possible to locate him to be transferred to a war cemetery after WW2.

Harry Reith was not recovered during our re-interment activities. The planned transfer to the collective cemetery in Przemysl was, therefore, unfortunately not possible. His name is recorded in a particular place in the aforementioned cemetery.
