Entitled to (in WW1): Iron Cross 2nd Class, Friedrich August Medal, Hindenburg Cross for WW1 combattants with Swords.
He served 1916-18 at the eastern and western front. He was called-up again in WW2 and served Aug.39-Aug.40 with 4./Brücken-Bau-Btl.548, a bridge building engineers unit. Operating 1939 in Poland, 1940 in Holland, Belgium and France. He was discharged on 3.9.40 and was not called-up again for military service because he worked at the German ministry (Kanzlei).
