He served: Jul.-Aug.39 with Infanterie-Regiment 19 based in Freising; Aug.39-Feb.40 with Infanterie-Regiment 62 of the 10.Infanterie-Division home based in Landshut and Sep.39 active during the campaign in Poland; Feb.-Apr.40 with Schützen-Ersatz-Kompanie 62 based in Landshut. He was discharged on 8.4.40. Called-up again in 1944 and served: Nov.-Dec.44 with Grenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 61 based in Munich and was discharged again because he was unsuitable for military service.
