He served 1943 with 4.(MG)/Grenadier-Regiment 116 of the 9.Infanterie-Division, 1943 active in Southern Russia and the Ukraine (Caucasus, Kuban and Krim). He got wounded for the first time on 8.5.43 and for the third time on 5.11.43. He was most probably not hospitalized for a long time because both wound badges were awarded at his unit.
