But he was called-up in 1944 and served: Dec.44-Jan.45 with Lager Fliegerhorst Detmold at the Luftwaffe airfield in Detmold; Jan.-Feb.45 with the technical company of the Luftwaffe pilot school in Werder Flugzeugführerschule A 61; Feb.45 with replacements unit Flieger-Ersatz-Bataillon III based in Chemnitz-Ebersdorf.
