He served 1941 as truck driver with RAD-Gruppenführer 333 active in France, transferred from RAD to the Army and 1941-42 during the campaign in Russia serving as a truck driver with Heeres-Kraftfahr-Park 563 active in the Ukrain. He got wounded Jul.42 in the Stalino area (Ukrain) by metall pieces in his eye which have to e removed at a hospital with eye magnets.
