He served: Aug.39-Aug.40 with Army bridge construction unit Brückenbau-Bataillon 548 home based in his hometown Dreden, 1939 active in Poland and occupation force Poland, based at the Westwall, 1940 active at the Westfront during the campaign in France; Aug.-Sep.40 with Brückenbau-Ersatz-Bataillon 1 in Wittenberg. Discharged from military service Sep.40. 1944 he served with the Flak in his hometown Dresden as a civil Flak-helper „Flakwehrmann“. With unit L55727: schwere Flak-Abteilung 565(o), stationary Flak unit in Dresden.
