He served: Dec.38-Nov.39 with Infanterie-Regiment 133 in Wels, Sep.39 active in Poland; Nov.39-Feb.40 with Schützen-Ersatz-Bataillon 133 in Linz; Feb.40-Sep.41 with Infanterie-Regiment 524 of the 297.Infanterie-Divison, 1940 active in France (Somme, Aisne, Oise, Seine), 1941 active in Southern Russia (Cholm, Shitomir, Uman); he got wounded on 5.8.41 by shrapnell in his arm and was till Mar.44 attached to Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 135 in Linz; May-Oct.44 with Grenadier-E.u.A.-Bataillon „Hoch- und Deutschmeister“, replacements bataillon in Austria for the 44.Reichsgrenadier-Division „Hoch- und Deutschmeister“. He was Oct.44 found unsuitable for military service and discharged from military service.
