Dr. Jur. Amtsrichter, Doctor of Jurisprudence Magistrat, born 1893 in Hüttmesgrün Sankt Joachimsthal. WW1 with the Austrian military as a Leutnant, 1915-1918 with Tiroler Kaiserschützen Regimernt III active with the Austrian-Hungarian Army in battles in southern Tirol and the Dolomites where he got May 1916 wounded at his leg by a handgrenade and nov.1917 broke some bones during an assault. In WW2 he served: Jan.-Feb.40 with Generalkommando XIII.Armeekorps; discharged and called-up again in 1943; Mar.-Apr.43 with Grenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 17 in Braunschweig; Apr.-May 43 with Landesschützen-Ersatz-Bataillon 13 in Eger; May 43-Feb.44 with M.-Stammlager 329 (POW transit camp Stalag 329) active/based in the Ukraine (Winniza); from Feb.44 onwards with Offlag 83, a POW camp for officers, located near Wietzendorf Germany. The camp was initially used for Soviet prisoners from the Eastern Front but now partially evacuated because of the poor sanitary conditions and used to house other prisoners, including many Italian war prisoners. In April 1945 over 7.000 Italian and French POW’s were in the camp.
