Born 1892 in Saarbrücken. Administrative official of the German Railways. He served in WW1 1914-1918 with Infanterie-Regiment 69 and Infanterie-Regiment 460 active at the Western Front (Arras, Somme, Soissons, Reims. He got wounded 17.10.1918 when he was shot in his head. He served in WW2: Feb.40 with Bau-Ersatz-Bataillon 12 in Worms; Feb.40-Jan.42 with Army construction unit Bau-Bataillon 144 active in France, 1940-41 occupation force in the Netherlands, 1941 occupation force Generalgouvernement, 1941-1942 active supporting the 17.Army at the Eastern Front (southern sector); Jan.-Dec.42 again with his replacements unit Bau-Ersatz-Bataillon 12 in Worms; Dec.42-May 44 with Landesschützen-Bataillon 381 based in Metz France for POW guarding duty; May 44-Apr.45 with POW construction and working unit Kriegsgefangenen-Bau-und-Arbeits-Bataillon 36, with french POW’s 1944 active in the Augsburg area. He was officially discharged on 5.4.45 from military service because he was not fit anymore for active service.
