Born 1920. Civil occupation as a mechanic. He served Oct.40-Feb.41 with Nebel-Ersatz-Abt.1, the rocket launch (Nebelwerfer) replacements unit based in Celle. He was schooled as a telephone operator and weather reporter. Feb.41 he was discharged from military service because of medical problems. 1942-44 he was several times examined and was finally Oct.44 called up again for military service, now with the Luftwaffe. He served Oct.44 at the Luftwaffe airfield (Flugplatz-Kommando) in Dornberg and was Nov.44 transferred to Flugzeugführerschule A41 based in Frankfurt. At this pilots school he was schooled as an airplane mechanic. Feb.-Mar.45 he served with his replacements unit Flieger-Ers.Batl.III based in Chemnitz-Ebersdorf.
