Born 1914, civil occupation as a farmer. He served Oct.-Dec.37 with Infanterie-Regiment 82 based in Osterode. Aug.39 he was called-up for service with the Luftwaffe and served Aug.39-Jun.41 with Luftwaffe-Nachschub-Kompanie2/VI, a Luftwaffe supply unit active in France (May-Jun.40 battles at Artois and Flandern). Jun.41-Dec.44 he served with several supply units (including ammunition depot and field fuel depot for planes) of Air District XI active in Northern France and Belgium. Jan.45 he was transferred to his replacements unit based in Neumünster and served from Feb.45 onwards with Feld-Munitions-Lager 17/VI, a field ammunition depot of Luftwaffe Air District VI active in Duisburg (Ruhr area) at that time.
