He served 1945 with 2./Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 1 of the 1. Fallschirmjäger-Division active in Italy (Apennin mountains, Castel S. Pietro, Monte Grande, Monte Cerere, Bologna, Imola, Po), He got wounded on 19.4.45 and was till Jul.45 hospitalized in Merano Italy (Fallschirmjäger-Kriegslazarett 21).
