2) Wound Badge in Black, 5.11.44. Signed by the CO of military hospital in Vienna, Oberstabsarzt.
3) 4 photos. One extremely large (appr. DIN A4) Pioneer unit. The smaller one has a flag that is denazified.
He served 1944 with 1./Pionier-Bataillon 255. Till 1943 the bataillon was the engineer unit of the 255.Ianfanterie-Division active in Southern Russia but the division was Nov.43 destroyed during fierce battles at Dnjepr and Kiew. The engineering bataillon was not disbanded and was 1944 active in Hungary under the 6.Armee. He got wounded for the first time on 27.10.44 and was hospitalized in Reserve-Lazarett XXV in Vienna Austria.
