1) Iron Cross 2nd Class, 15.6.40. Signed by the CO of the 216.Infanterie-Division, Generalleutnant Hermann Böttcher. Heavily used condition, repaired with adhesive tape. Probably kept it in his Soldbuch for some time.
2) Wound Badge in Silver, 26.6.44. Signed by the CO of military hospital in Rinteln, Oberstabsarzt. Issued for three single injuries.
3) Iron Cross 1st Class, 15.7.44. Signed by the CO of Korpsabteilung F, Generalmajor Louis Tronnier.

He served: 1940 with 11./Infanterie-Regiment 348 of the 216.Infanterie-Division active in Holland, Belgium and France and occupation force Chanel Coast. 1944 he served with 7./Grenadier-Regiment 112 and Divisions-Gruppe 38, both of the 38.Infanterie-Division Active in Southern Russia (Donez, Kriwoi-Rog, Uman). He got wounded on 2.9.43, 17.2.44 and 19.2.44. His division was decimated during that time after heavy losses. Due to his last wound he was till Jun.44 hospitalized in Rinteln.
