He served: Mar,-Apr.40 with 1./Flakausbildungsstelle Büsum northern Germany; Apr.-May 40 with I.Flieger-Abwehr-Gruppe Langeoog (based on the island Langeoog Northern Germany); Jun.-Nov.40 with Reserve-Flak-Batterie 28/XI; Nov.40-Apr.41 with Reserve-Flakabteilung 767 based in the Hamburg area; May 41-Dec.42 with Reserve-Flakabteilung 723 and 745 active in Northern Russia (Staraja Russia, Leningrad area); Dec.42-Oct.43 with I./Artillerie-Regiment 9 of the new formed Luftwaffe-Feld-Division 9 active in Northern Russia (Oranienbaum); from Oct.43 till the end of the war (last entry 30.4.45) with 5./Flak-Regiment 2(mot) also active in Northern Russia, 1944 Courland, 1945 Heiligenbeil. During his service with Flak-Regiment 2 he was Nov.43-Feb.44 schooled as a weapon specialist “Waffenwart” at the Luftwaffe Flak-Waffenschule based in Stralsund.
