He served: Jul.-Aug.39 with Infanterie-Regiment 58 based in Herford; Aug.-Oct.39 with Schützen-Ersatz-Bataillon 474 also based in Herford; Nov.39-Mar.42 with Infanterie-Regiment 474 of the 254.Infanterie-Division, 1940 active and based in France (Lille Rouen), 1941-42 active in Northern Russia (Leningrad, Wolchow). He got wounded for the first time on 7.12.41 by shrapnel, he was KIA on 16.3.42 in Rutschi.
