2) Impressive and decorative death certificate for fallen soldiers, 17.4.43. Sent by his field unit to his parents for remembrance. Signed by the CO of 1./Pionier-Bataillon 248, Oberleutnant. Used condition, folded with stains. Size Din A4.
Agricultural worker born 1921 in Genowefa (Poland nowadays). RAD service Oct.40-Jan.41 working for the Luftwaffe. He served: Feb.-May 41 for basic military training with Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 190 in Kolmar; May-Aug.41 for pioneer training with Pionier-Ersatz-Bataillon 213 in Strassburg; Sep.41-Jan.42 with 1./Pionier-Bataillon 248, the pioneer unit of the 168.Infanterie-Division active in Southern Russia (Kiew, Romny, Belgorod, Charkow). He was KIA on 2.1.42 in Leski near Belgorod and was buried by his comrades at the south entrance of the city. Nowadays probably still buried in his field grave in Leski, not reburied on a war cemetery.
