Karl Gutmann, NCO (Unteroffizir) Luftwaffe pilot, flying instructor, bomber and transport squadrons

Born 1920 in Weinern-Zwettl. SA member since 1936. RAD service Nov.38-Mar.39. Luftwaffe volunteer. He served Apr.-Jul.39 for basic military training with Flieger-Ausbildungs-Regiment 14 in Klangenfurt. Sep.39-Nov.42 for pilot training and later flying instructor training with several pilot schools: Flugzeugführerschule A/B 4 in Prag-Gbell, Jagdfliegerschule 4 in Fürth, Pardubitz, Rosenborn, Burg, (field post number L45338) Blindflugschule Kopenhagen-Kastrup; Nachtjagdschule Schleissheim, Blindflugschule Neuburg, Flugzeugführerschule C17 in Pütnitz, Fluglehrerschule der Luftwaffe. Active front service as a pilot startet in Dec.42 and he served: Dec.42-Apr.43 with Kampfgeschwader zbV 20, with He111 planes active in Southern Russia home based in Morosovskaja, Novocherkassk, Denpropetrovsk, Bagerowo and Sarabus Crimea; Apr.43 with Kampfgeschwader zbV 23 with He111 planes based in Nancy France (?); from May 43 onwards with the in Gross-Ostheim new formed 3./Transport-Gruppe 30 (former 3./KGrzbV23) also with He111 planes, from Jun.43 onwards home based in Orange France. No entries after 1943.
According to further research he was 1944 still serving with TG30 as he is mentioned being the pilot during two crashes:
On 4.4.1944 he crashed with his plane. Cause unknown, place unknown but under Luftflotte 4 at the Eastern Front. He was pilot of a He111 of TGr.30. No one of his crew got wounded during the crash but only two crew members including Karl were mentioned: Pilot Uffz. Karl Gutmann, Bf (radio operator) Uffz. Karl Tegg.
On 10.10.44 he crashed with his plane due to fuel shortage during an enemy flight 14km west of Göttingen. He was pilot of 3/TGr. 30 in a He111 H-20 with factory number 700719 S3+IL. The plane was total loss and three of his crew including Karl got wounded during the crash, other two crew members got out by parachute.
