Born 1914 in Breslau. He served: Nov.35-Sep.37 with Panzer-Abteilung 28 based in his hometown Breslau; Aug.-Oct.39 with Panzer-Abwehr-Abteilung 8 also based in Breslau; Oct.39-Jan.40 with the anti tank unit of Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment 183 (Jan.40 renamed IR347) active in Posen under Grenzschutz-Abschnitt-Kommando 14; Jan.40-Jun.43 with Infanterie-Regiment 347 of the 197.Infanterie-Division, till May 40 based in Trier and the Westwall, Jun.40 active in France, Jul.40-Jan.41 occupation force Holland, from Jul.41 onwards active in Middle Russia (Smolensk, Wjasma, Moscow, Moshaisk, Gshatsk, Spass-Demensk, Rshew, Newel. He got wounded the first time on 23.10.42 (shot through his left leg) and was hospitalized in a field hospital in Russia. He got wounded again on 1.6.43 (shot through his left arm with double fracture) and was hospitalized till he was Apr.44 discharged from military service.
