Roofer born 1911 in Oertrich near Dortmund. He served 1941-1945 with Infanterie-Regiment 44 (Oct.42 renamed Grenadier-Regiment 44) of the 11.Infanterie-Division. Service: till Jun.41 based in France and Eastern Prussia; from Jun.41 onwards active under the 18.Armee in Northern Russia (Wolchow, Ladoga, Leningrad, Narwa, Kurland). He got wounded five times, for the last time on 21.2.43 and hospitalized in the Navy hospital in Oldenburg-Holstein in Northern Germany.
