Born 1914 in Erstetten.He served: Oct.36-Oct.38 with Infanterie-Regiment 37 in Wiesbaden; Aug.39-Jun.40 with Infanterie-Ersatz-Kompanie 73 based in Hannover; Jun.-Oct.40 with Infanterie-Regiment 73 of the 19.Infanterie-Division active in Belgium and France and occupation force France; Nov.40-Aug.41 with Kradschützen-Bataillon 19 of the 19.Panzer-Division, 1941 active in Middle Russia (Minsk, Smolensk, Newel). He got severely wounded on 3.7.41 when he was shot through his left under leg and was Aug.41-Apr.42 attached to Kradschützen-Ersatz-Bataillon 3 while in hospital. He was finally on 9.9.42 discharged from military service because of his injury.
