Entitled to: Winter War Medal (1.8.42), Iron Cross 2nd Class (5.4.43) and Wound Badge in Black (7.5.43).
Born 1911 in Mannheim. He served: May 40-Jan.41 with Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung 246 in Trier; Jan.41-Mar.43 with Artillerie-Regiment 342 of the 342.Infanterie-Division, 1941 based in France (Auxerre and demarcation line Bourges-Tours), till Feb.42 based in Yugoslavia, from Mar.42 onwards active in central sector Russia (Rshew, Spass-Demensk); he got wounded on 9.3.43 when he was shot through his neck and broke his under jaw and was repatriated; till Jan.44 for recovery with Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung 179 in Diedenhofen; Feb.44 to the front with the marching unit of the 342.Infanterie-Division; Feb.-Aug.44 again with Artillerie-Regiment 342 of the 342.Infanterie-Division active in Russia (Mogilew, Tschaussy, Luboml, Ukraine, Kowel, Weichsel, Baranow bridge head). He was KIA on 23.8.44 2km south of Zawichost Poland. Nowadays probably still buried in his field grave, not moved to a war cemetery after the war.
